I though it would be a good idea to post some videos from youtube to show you exactly the kind of remixing that people just like you, are doing with various software applications in home studios. Everyone has their own preference of program and their own opinion of what a remix should be.

With this in mind, these are only here as examples and to give you some motivation to create some of your own wicked remixes, when you get your hands on a some software.

So check them out:

50 Cent – Wanksta Remix using Logic Studio

This is a perfect example of an independent, unique remix. This guy has written his own track and put the vocal track over the top. The end result is a professional sounding mix that sounds huge. Logic is a great platform for creating mastered remixes, though please, do not attempt to use this program if your a complete newb.

ADD SUV Remix – Ft Pharrell Williams

Another great session in Logic, with this cruisey remix and its awesome track leaving you wanting more. it has taken advantage of a number of plugins and effects. A comprehensive session and a great result.

Gangster’s Paradise – Instrumental Remix

In this video, Dubturbo has been utilized to remix and re-create new facets of the classic Coolio track Gangster’s Paradise. Love the little break-beat sections in the verses. If you wanted to drop in your own original verses over the top or some vocal tracks from other rap songs, this would be a great remix.

Daft Punk – Traktor Remixing

This is a completely different platform to those displayed as above, however Native Instruments Traktor is a great DJ software for live mixing of whatever tracks you like. This guy in particular has done a sick job with his fades etc. With DJ software alone, you are very limited in what actions you can take, and there is no creating original music at all.  Better off going with one of the sequencing platforms as above.

Sugar Hill Gang – Rappers Delight Remix

Ok, you if you have actually looked through the website, though will know exactly why this is in here. Rappers Delight was essentially the first ever “rap” song and this version by DJ N-Joy, was probably the first official remix ever made.

It is so typically disco and RnB, as the times when it was created where still tightly clinging to the aforementioned genres. It has quite a long intro, but I know you will love it, when the verses eventually kick in. Classic!

There are so many videos that I wanted to put on this page, but I have had to limit myself and at the risk of appearing self-indulgent, we have ended things with the original and the best, as above…
