One day a salesman came knocking at my door and he had music software called Traktor PRO 2 which he wanted to sell. My son was at home and looking at the salesman he immediately started smiling.

For sake of my son, I requested him to show the software. The salesman told us that this DJ software has sample decks, loop recorder, 30 effects and 4 decks for enhancing your creative instincts.

He further told us that Traktor Pro 2 is based on latest technology and it comes with colored waveforms called TruWave for getting best visuals for your music. This version also has brand new interface.

My son was very excited and he was listening to the salesman with great concentration, I believe never in his life he would have concentrated so much, not even in the school.

The salesman was eager to show live demonstration of the software, though I was not interested in watching the demonstration but because of my son I had to agree and watch the demonstration.

The salesman showed us how remixing could be done in real-time by using this software and he even switched from different decks to a sample deck with ease. Looking at the software I got interested in its working.

The salesman loaded 4 loops and told us in all 16 loops can be loaded. The salesman recorded the loops by using Loop Recorder with the help of audio interface inputs, master out and mixer channels.

He showed us around thirty performance enhancing effects and also showed us how to use effects like Bouncer, Ramp Delay, Auto Bouncer and Tape Delay in this software and believe me this software generated extreme sound.

So I know it is difficult to compare these two programs as song remixing software, but I feel it was important to demonstrate some of the big differences, but more importantly the similarities.

Both are great for creating original (electronic) music and generating remixes; just that one is much more expensive and difficult to use.

Methods Of Remixing With Software

- It should be noted that if you are looking to create a new, mastered remix track then you need the individual vocal and instruments tracks. There is no possible way to separate the music from the vocals of a completed song. Just not possible.

- The process is much simpler if you are looking to mix two tracks that are essentially instrumental tracks only.
